Summary:
"It happens at the start of every November: the Scorpio Races. Riders attempt to keep hold of their water horses long enough to make it to the finish line. Some riders live. Others die.
At age nineteen, Sean Kendrick is the returning champion. He is a young man of few words, and if he has any fears, he keeps them buried deep, where no one else can see them.
Puck Connolly is different. She never meant to ride in the Scorpio Races. But fate hasn’t given her much of a chance. So she enters the competition — the first girl ever to do so. She is in no way prepared for what is going to happen."
It was just Breathtaking. Brilliant. Genius. Beautiful.
I couldn't get my thoughts straight. When my book best friend recommended me this book telling me its about horses-monstrous water horses- I was of course skeptical because well I have read different authors work who just take a old myth and break it into something which often doesn't turn out right. Those types of books often end up in on-hold list or well stuffed into a corner of a shelf never to see the light again.
Maggie Stiefvater you created such a beautiful story. I just fell in love with Puck and Sean and the relationship they had with their horses. Only down was the Scorpion races which happened at the end of the book and that too was way short. But I think the story was never about the races rather what the two MC wanted the most in their life.
The author created such a vivid picture while narrating the whole story from POV of the two MC's. I fell in love with the Island, the horses, the sea, the cliffs. Everything felt perfection.
I think I need to check out more of her novels because I am pretty sure I will also fall in love with them.
You Guys seriously need to read this. It was just beautiful.
